A lot depends on point of view I guess, but today's headlines by the Star is quite frightful to me... but not in the way that many, including the reporter, may think. In my mind, the idea that there are "conmen" and many other creatures out in the market to make a quick buck is obvious.
Now what really alarmed me was that it took some good samaritans to "tip off" EPF before they embarked on an in-depth due diligence! RM 15 million to my mind is substantial money. And in my wildest dreams, I always considered that EPF would be run by at least competent fund/investment managers if not excellent ones. It is afterall the rakyat's hard earned savings we are talking about here.
How is it that a company that has been ordered to be wound up by the courts is still valued by EPF with all its clout and government mandate at 28 times its last "valuation" escapes all my human faculties.
How then can EPF be trusted to handle the billions at their disposal? Or is "dispose" the operative word in this case?
Guess "dim sum" speaks lowly of any intellectual capacity this blog may have :) Only bite size servings here, signed mrjefe.

New Highway Rates Set to Take a Toll on Citizen Malaysia
Apparently the Government is not able to subsidize our use of Malaysian highways...

Introducing the New Camry 2007
The new Camry is finally out in the market! Well, not quite - as last weekend was only the press launch, but orders are already streaming in and it looks like Toyota has unveiled another winner! There are basically 3 variants for the Malaysian market - the 2.0E, 2.0G and 2.4. The 2.0E is the basic version, while the 2.0G comes with leather seats, electric seats, HID lights etc. The only differences compared to the 2.4 litre variant (apart from the larger engine) is the vehicle stability control (VSC), wood finishing and 17 inch rims.
What is missing is the push button ignition, which would have been classy.
Style wise, it is elegant and a worthy replacement for the previous model, incidentally America's favorite family sedan. Also, it is worthy to note that we are getting the Asian version, which has a less sportier profile compared to its American counterpart. While beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, it is said, this blogger prefers the distinguished lines available in our market - and I probably fit the targeted market profile too!
